Soul of Arial and Other News

Hello World!

Sorry it's been so long since my last post.  Been busy with writing and life and whatnot!  For those of you who know about The Soul of Arial series, you'll be happy to know I've been hard at work on the manuscript for the third and final book of this series!  The characters have a lot to say and even more to do to bring this fantasy to a close, so hopefully we'll get it all written and polished before summer's over.

While you're waiting for this particular book to be released, be sure to check out Vivication (Annals of Ellie #1)!  It is now available on Kindle, Nook, and in paperback on Amazon and CreateSpace.  So what are you waiting for??

That's about all I've got for now.  Still dealing with back issues that prevent me from writing as much as I would like to.  But I'm stubborn, so this manuscript and others will get done!  I hope everyone has had an amazing summer and if I get a chance, I'll be sure to post about my awesome two-week cross-country road trip I took in July with my Muse!  Got some amazing pictures to share with you guys!

Take care and happy reading!

Time is Flying... Me, Not So Much

Good morning, Peeps!

It's been a chaotic month or so since I last posted.  I went through the Kindle Scout Campaign program, I've begun work on the next book in two different series, and I've been dealing with a back issue that has yet to resolve itself.  Fun times!

So, first off, Vivication (Annals of Ellie #1) was not selected to be published through Amazon's Kindle Publications.  But because of the awesome response I got from individuals showing their support over the course of the campaign, I will be publishing Vivication through Cressen Books LLC.  The release date for it is this Wednesday, April 27th, and it will be available for purchase on Kindle, Nook, and in paperback through CreateSpace and Amazon!  Just as a reminder of what Vivication is about, here's the cover and synopsis:

Sketching is one thing, drawing is something totally different.  That is if you are Ellie Marshall.  Ellie loves to sketch, to escape to a place of peace in her mind.  Away from her modern, mundane, bible-belt foster homes.   But when her mind decides to draw, it takes over everything.  It demands immediate attention – as in Draw. Right. Now.  And what her mind draws is of future events, of things yet to happen.  Then one day her mind drew a creepy medieval castle…

Second, I have been working on the fourth book for Galactic Dynasty and the third book for The Soul of Arial.  I'm actually a little further along in Arial simply because those characters have been in my head lately.  I'll be sure to place a progress bar here on the blog so those of you interested can monitor my progress.  I'm hoping to have both of these books done and ready for publication by the end of this year, so I'm crossing my fingers I can meet that goal!

And lastly, the back issues.  I've been having what feels like a pinched nerve and muscle spasms in my back since the middle of January.  Everything the doc has had me do so far has not helped, so I'm now seeing a neurosurgeon and a pain management specialist to try and pinpoint exactly what's causing the pain so we'll know how to alleviate it.  Because of this, I've only been able to sit in front of the computer for short periods of time and some days are worse than others, causing me to not be able to put my full focus on any project I'm working on.  So, writing has been sporadic to say the least and this does not make me a happy camper.  But hopefully a resolution is in sight.

So, that's been my world as of late.  I'll be back on soon to post links for Vivication.  Until then, I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

New Project!

Now that Lineage is live, I'm shifting my focus to a new project that I've been playing around with for a few years now.  I had a rough manuscript already drafted, but now that I've got my Muse/Editor involved, the storyline is morphing into something amazing!  I'm about half-way through the re-write and am reaching a point now where everything I add will be new material.

For years now I've been a huge fan of the paranormal genre (reading it not writing it).  But I wanted to try my hand at it even though I recognize that it's a crowded field.  I still feel like there are new twists and angles that can be explored and brought to life.  Plus, I'm a character person and sometimes all it takes are new and interesting characters to breathe life into a genre that feels as if it's been overdone.  So that's what I'm attempting to do with this new series.

And yes, it will be a series.  There will be Vampires and Lycans and Seers... well, one Seer anyway.  There will be intrigue and flirtations and danger.  There will be multiple attractions for the main character, but nothing set in stone as to who she has to choose.  She can enjoy each one in her own way and not have that whole insta-love or love triangle issue to deal with.

Something a little different with this series than what I've done in the past is that this will be told from one perspective only.  My main character is a female who's had some hard knocks but keeps right on going.  She's willing to explore and take reasonable risks and she doesn't accept everything at face value.  She's curious and a bit endearingly klutzy and loyal to those she cares about.  She's innocent in some respects and worldly in others.  And being eighteen, she's beginning to explore the adult world more which will of course land her in various adult situations.

This series is intended for the mature young adult and older audience.  I haven't settled on whether I intend to market this as New Adult or just stick with General Adult fiction yet.  Either way, I believe it will be an enticing read for a wide range of ages.

So, with all of that said, I will be posting a progress bar soon so anyone curious can see how the manuscript is coming along.  As for my other series, once I finish this first book in this series, I'll be switching to The Soul of Arial series and begin working on book 3, Aboveworld.  After that, I'll be back in the sci-fi/adventure realm with the fourth book in the Galactic Dynasty series.  Lots going on, but then that's what us authors live for... to write stories!

Final Edits In Progress

Good morning all!

In the last post I talked about splitting Two Worlds into two books, Underworld and Aboveworld.  Well I am happy to report that Underworld has been submitted for final edits!!!!  That means that I've got a cover to design and a synopsis to draft between now and when I get the edits back.  Then it's final tweaks, formatting, and Underworld will be ready to share with the masses!

Since the final edit process can take up to a few weeks, I actually do have some time on my hands for other things.  That means I'll probably begin formulating plans for the third book in the Galactic Dynasty series.  My intentions are to get the third book out by the end of this year, perhaps even sooner, and then move into the third book in The Soul of Arial series, Aboveworld.  But we'll see how it all flows.

I'm really looking forward to diving back into the world of Galactic Dynasty.  I've missed Rosa and Daemos and I can't wait to figure out what all is going to happen next with them as well as the rest of the crew of Starward.  And of course, they have a Metrusian with them this time, Raz, who I'm sure will be getting into all sorts of mischief right alongside Rosa and Daemos.  Should be a lot of fun!

I hope that everyone is staying warm and safe in all this snowy madness we've been experiencing these last few weeks.  And if nothing else, be sure to curl up with a book and escape to another world for a few hours!

Happy Reading!

Dividing a Book in Two

Good morning, peeps!  And Happy Friday the 13th!!!  As you can probably guess, I love this particular date.  I'm not of the superstitious nature and completely embrace this date because it's a special date for the Muse and I.  Every time there's a Friday the 13th in the month, he takes the day off work and we enjoy the day together.

Anyway, that's actually not what this post is about.  Just wanted to gush about how awesome my Muse is for a moment. lol

No, this post is to inform you awesome followers and readers that a somewhat major decision was reached over the last couple of weeks.  I've been talking about Two Worlds for the last several months as the sequel to Prophecy Revealed (The Soul of Arial #1).  Well, after working on it these last couple of weeks, I've come to the realization that I was trying to cram two books worth of material into one book.

So... Two Worlds has been broken into two books.  The new titles are Underworld (book 2) and Aboveworld (book 3).  Underworld is almost complete.  I just have another chapter or two to add to the manuscript and then I'll begin the final editing process.  Plus I still have to create the cover and come up with a synopsis.  But if all goes well, Underworld will be releasing very soon!!

I'm excited about this decision because it's going to allow me to explore each of these fascinating worlds more in depth.  Well, Arial will be exploring them and then telling me what she sees so I can write it.  You know how characters are!

Once Underworld is published, I'll be switching gears and will begin writing the first draft for the third book in the Galactic Dynasty series.  This is the series I co-write with my Muse and hopefully we'll have the third book out to the readers of that series by the end of this year.

I think that's all the news I have for now.  I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine's Day and an amazing weekend.  And if you're looking for some good romantic reads to curl up with this weekend, be sure to check out my publisher's Romance page.  All of the books on that page are amazing and would make a great addition to any romance reader's collection!

Take care and Happy Reading!

It's a Brand New Year!

Happy New Year, everyone!

Sorry I've been silent for so long, but as you can see by the progress bar on the right side of the screen, I've been hard at work on Two Worlds (The Soul of Arial #2)!  It's coming along beautifully and I hope to have the full manuscript written by the end of this month.

So, speaking of the new year, what's in store?  Definitely the publication of Two Worlds, which I hope will take place by March.  *crosses fingers and toes*  Then it's on to book 3 in the Galactic Dynasty series that I'm co-authoring with my Muse.  If all goes well, I should have that book ready to publish between October-December.

On top of getting two new books out this year, I'll also be putting my editor/cover creator/formatter/publisher hats on and helping the other authors in the Cressen Books publishing family get their books out there to the masses.  I also have two trips planned this year, one to Norfolk, VA and one to Indianapolis, IN as well as a possible third trip but that one's still in the works, so not sure yet if it will happen or not.

2015 looks as though it's already shaping up to be a busy, exciting year!  On a personal note, I've challenged myself to read 50 books this year as part of my Goodreads Challenge for 2015.  And I'll always be working on other writing projects that may or may not see the light of publishing.  Never know!  If any of the books I read this year turn out to be review-worthy, I'll be sure to post the review on the site here and share my thoughts with everyone as well as posting the review over on Goodreads.  And if you're not a member of Goodreads, head on over and check the site out, maybe even send me a friend request while you're at it!

Okay, so I'm off of here for now.  I'll try to be a more consistent blogger this year... one of my goals for 2015.  I hope everyone's new year has gotten off to an awesome start and I look forward to sharing this year with all of you awesome peeps!

Let The Final Edits Begin!

Vagar is a complete and whole manuscript!!!  *throws confetti*

This manuscript has been a long work in progress but it is now in the final edit stage.  That means, my lovely readers, you will be able to get your hands on a copy of this novel soon!  I've not been given a release date yet, but as soon as I have one, I'll be sure to pass that along to you.

Now that Vagar is being edited, I'll be turning my attention once more to Two Worlds (The Soul of Arial #2).  I've got about 7 chapters written so far, but because I've been away from it for so long, I'll have to go back over what I've already written before I can move forward with the story.  I'm really looking forward to getting back into this particular world and seeing where my characters take me.  And I'm excited to share that there will be more than two perspectives this time... Arial and Rayner will still be the main POV's, but I've decided to add in some other insights from secondary characters as well (not telling who just yet).  So, in the coming weeks, I'll be talking more about this particular novel and the series as a whole.

As soon as I have a release date, a cover design, and a synopsis for Vagar, I'll be sure to share on here.  I'm so ecstatic that this novel is in its final stages before publication and look forward to sharing it with all of you.  Until then, happy reading and if you haven't checked out Starward, Vagar's predecessor, then check out the web page on my publisher's site to read the first chapter and find purchase links for the book.  You can also find the first book in the Soul of Arial series, Prophecy Revealed on their site.

Wuz Up?!

Morning, all!

First, I'd like to congratulate Sheri on winning the signed paperback of StarwardCressen Books will be hosting more giveaways in the future, so be sure to check them out and like them on Facebook so you'll know when the next giveaway is taking place.  I'll also announce future giveaways on here and other sites because I love my readers and followers and want you guys to have all kinds of chances to win awesome books!

Second, I'm making progress on Vagar, the second book in the Galactic Dynasty series.  I'm hoping to get the last few chapters written in the next week or two.  Then it's deep edits and cover designs and hopefully, if all goes well and my characters are being nice to me, this book will release by the end of summer!!! YAY!!

And last, but not least... whatever happened to The Soul of Arial series?  Prophecy Revealed released back in December 2013.  When's the next book coming out?  Good question.  I'm trying to get through Vagar at the moment.  Once I've finished writing that manuscript and edit it with my co-author, E. M. Lohr, I intend to pick up with the second book in the Arial series tentatively titled Two Worlds.  So, that's the other reason I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can get Vagar out to the masses by the end of summer!  Wish me luck!

Okies, back to my writing cave.  I'll check back in and let you guys know the latest when I come up for air again.  Or coffee.  Or both. :)

Updates, Vagar, and Other Randomness

Wow, it's been quite a while since I last posted. *hides face in shame* lol  I promise, I've been busy writing and editing among other things over the last couple of months.  So, let me update everyone on the latest.

As you all know, Prophecy Revealed (The Soul of Arial #1) is now available on Kindle and Nook for $6.99 and in paperback on Amazon and CreateSpace for $9.99.  The cover, synopsis, and first chapter can be found on my publisher's website, Cressen Books LLC.  And you can also find purchase links there.  Plus, be sure to browse their website for other amazing books by really talented authors!

As for Vagar (Galactic Dynasty #2), I've been making huge progress in the drafting of the first manuscript.  I'm up to Chapter 14 now and can probably conclude that I'm about halfway done, give or take a chapter or two.  Things are stirring up for Rosa and Daemos and there's some major reveals and intrigues in development even as I write this post!  lol  Never a dull moment with those two. :)

Also over the last couple of months, I took a trip to Baton Rouge, LA and can safely say that I really don't want to go back.  It was an experience, not necessarily a great one, and I kind of wished I hadn't stayed for as long as I did there.  Of course, my extended stay had to do with the horrible snow storms we got back in February that ended up canceling our flights back home twice, once while we were sitting in the plane being de-iced before take-off.  Yeah, there were a lot of unhappy campers on that plane, including me.  But I did finally find some really good Cajun cuisine my last two days there... sadly, this food was found at the airport hotel we stayed at for the last two nights and at a restaurant within walking distance of the airport hotel.  Yeah, had to go to airport land to get the good stuff because downtown Baton Rouge didn't have squat... sigh.  Oh well, it's one more place I can mark off my list as having been to.  'Nuff said.

Other than the Baton Rouge trip, I also made a couple of treks to a place along the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia.  I call it my writer's retreat... it's a house built in the 1880's that a co-worker of my hubby's is renovating.  She needs help with stuff from time to time, so the hubby helps her with house projects while I hole up in what she calls the Floosy Room...lol...and write my little fingers off for hours on end.  Love that place as it always has such creative energy there and I come away pleased with the progress I've made on various writing projects.  Anyway, I've been there twice in the last couple of months, hence the reason I've made such astounding progress with Vagar.

So, I believe that's the gist of what's been happening since my last post.  At the end of April, I'll be attending the Martinsburg Chocolate Festival and Book Fair.  And then I'll be heading to Kentucky the first week in May to spend some much needed girly time with my bestie there.

My goal right now is to have Vagar finished and ready for publication sometime this summer.  *crosses fingers*  I'll be sure to keep everyone posted on the progress there as summer looms closer!  As for the second book in The Soul of Arial series, I've kind of set that to the side in order to concentrate on Vagar right now.  Once I get the first draft done and in the editing process, I'll probably start focusing more writing energy on Two Worlds.  Until then, Arial and the winged warriors are taking a little vacation!

Whew, alrighty then.  I think I've caught up on everything.  I hope everyone is enjoying springtime and reading all kinds of amazing books!  Happy reading to all and I'll try to get back on here again soon with more updates!

Moving Forward!

With the release of Prophecy Revealed, I've taken a few weeks to chill and get my brain properly motivated to get back to work.  Basically, this means I did a lot of playing computer games and reading books not written by me so I could get my mind right again.  Btw, if you're a big fan of the paranormal genre and haven't checked out J. R. Ward or Karen Marie Moning, please do so ASAP!  These two ladies are at the top of most kick-arse awesome writers and I would highly recommend their books to anyone, especially the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J. R. Ward and the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning.  Phenomenal writing that makes me strive as a writer to want to be like them!

Anywho, now that I've given myself a few weeks to recoup, I'll be picking up where I left off with Vagar (Galactic Dynasty #2) and I will also begin writing the next book in The Soul of Arial series.  It's tentatively titled Two Worlds, but that is subject to change between now and publication.  I'm extremely excited about both of these projects and will be sharing updates as I go along.  I already have a progress bar for Vagar (you can find that on the right side of the blog) and I'll set up a progress bar for Two Worlds within the next couple of weeks.  This way, everyone can check in occasionally to see how far along I am on the writing of these two manuscripts!

I hope everyone has gotten off to a wonderful start for the New Year and I look forward to sharing more awesomeness in the coming weeks and months!  Now, off to pour more coffee and head to the writing cave!  Have a great week and happy reading!

Prophecy Revealed Release Date, Cover, and Synopsis!

Hello, Ladies and Gents!  Sorry it's been so long since my last post, but so many things have been going on that I'm amazed I can still remember my own name right now! lol  So, let's get started with the latest!

For your viewing pleasure, I have the cover for Prophecy Revealed (The Soul of Arial #1) to share with you as well as the synopsis:

So it is spoken, so it shall be, that the Soul of Arial will bring change to thee;

With defiance and courage she will paint the scene for two worlds to become one;

And by her side will only one rule and win her respect for eternity.
A prophecy is given and a Soul is named.   Change is coming and the soul must be found.  Rulers fret, winged warriors hunt, and Arial eludes.  But for how long?

So, what do you think?  Are you intrigued yet?  I'm so excited about this novel and can't wait for readers to get their hands on it!  The release date for Prophecy Revealed is scheduled for December 18, so be sure to mark your calendars and spread the word!

And just a little background... this book has been in progress for over three years now, slowly being developed and fleshed out.  There were times when I wasn't so sure I wanted others to read this as it was not a genre or writing style I was accustomed to.  But now that I've finished it and stepped back from it for a few moments, I realize I was just being silly.  The story is amazing and unique, one you won't find in the typical fantasy section and I can't be more thrilled or proud of this novel than I am now.  So, definitely check it out when it releases and be sure to let me know what you think!

Deep in the Edit Zone

Good morning, all!  Sorry it's been so quiet on here lately.  I've been deep into edits for my upcoming release, Prophecy Revealed, as well as doing stuff with the Muse outside of all this writing and editing.  But I wanted to pop on here long enough to give an update before I get back at it again!

As of the last post, everyone now knows that Prophecy Revealed (The Soul of Arial #1) has been completed and is now in the stages of editing.  The story (in my humble opinion) was already a great story, but as I'm slowly working through it line by line, I'm now finding ways to spruce it up, flesh it out, intensify it in order to make it an amazing story!  The characters are coming more to life, the world-building is taking on an even more realistic feel, and the plot is tightening up nicely!

When I first started this story....er, two or three years ago....I wasn't entirely sure if it was something I would ever publish.  It had some elements that were dark and sexual in nature, something I was so NOT used to writing.  But as more of the story flowed and gelled, I began to lose some of that apprehension of releasing it.  And now, I'm so crazy about this story that I can't wait for others to get their hands on it and see this world and these characters for themselves for the first time!

So, with that said, I'm actually going to wrap up here for now and get back to work making this great story awesome!  I hope everyone's having a great week and I'll be back on again in the near future to give more updates.

Tata for now!

Big News to Share!

So, a while back I posted about The Soul of Arial series that I've been writing/mulling over.  And I mentioned that I was putting it on the back burner until I could decide for certain what I wanted to do with it.  Well, I've decided....

Prophecy Revealed (The Soul of Arial #1) is in the process of being edited and will (hopefully) be published within the next 6-8 weeks!!!

This is a major milestone for me as it takes me out of the realm of 'tweens (The L & L Mysteries) and young adult + (Galactic Dynasty) and puts me full force into the adult arena.  And since this will be my debut for adult readers, I really want to make sure I've got everything nicely massaged so that when readers pick this book up, they know right away it's meant for mature readers and won't want to put it back down until they've reached the end.  And when they reach the end, I want them to want to move on to the next book, even if it hasn't released yet!  Yeah, I want a lot. lol :)

Anyway, The Soul of Arial is a planned trilogy.  Whether any other books result after the three books are written, I have no idea.  It's possible, but it's not in the plans at this time.  This trilogy falls in the fantasy genre with elements of supernatural/paranormal woven in.  Everything is made up, so I can't actually say that there are any familiar supernatural/paranormal creatures (i.e. vampires, werewolves, angels, etc...not going to find them here) and even the realm is not anything that someone would be familiar with, per se.  It's a mash up of different ideas/theologies/myths/philosophies rolled into one big, complex realm to make it a unique and intriguing world to dive into and explore.

So, I'm very excited to share this with you and can't wait to share more as the publishing process progresses.  I hope to have a cover designed within the next couple of weeks and will share that here on the site as well as keep everyone up to date on things.  Plus, I still have other projects I'm working on as well and will post updates on those too.

Exciting, crazy, happenin' times here and it's awesome that I get to share that with all of you!  Now, it's off to do some more editing/massaging!  Have a great week!

Where Did My Mojo Go???

It's Monday morning and I am trying hard to find my mojo.  For some reason, though, it is hiding very well at the moment!  So, I'm going to ramble for a bit here and then see if I can find it again.

Starward (Galactic Dynasty #1) is now available on Nook, Kindle, and in paperback....YAY!!!  I love this novel and hope that you will give it a chance!  And if you do, please be sure to leave a review on Amazon or Barnes & Noble or even on Goodreads...us aspiring authors really appreciate it!

I believe in one of the posts a long time ago in a galaxy far far away I mentioned that my next project would be The Soul of Arial.  Well, I've really be struggling with that project, flip-flopping back and forth trying to decide how I want to lay it out and write it.  So, I finally took a deep breath and admitted to myself that now was just not the time to be working on it.  That means that The Soul of Arial project has been tabled for the time being and I will let everyone know when I've decided to pick it back up again.  Until then, you will not be hearing anything else about it but I did want to let everyone know what was going on with it.

With that said, my next project is to begin writing the second book of the Galactic Dynasty series, Starward's sequel.  I have begun writing, but vacations and business stuff has prevented me from getting very far with it.  I am hoping, however, to remedy that this week by spending some time each day writing on it.  I pretty much have worked out the entire plotline with my co-author and Muse, E. M. Lohr, so it's just a matter of sitting down and letting the words flow out of my fingertips.

Oh, and the other project I've got lined up is developing my very own website!!!!  My intention is to shift this blog and all things pertaining to my work as an author to this new website, but that may take some time.  So, for now, I'll still be posting here and will hopefully have a new site to direct everyone to in the near future!

Exciting times all around but then I don't think I've had a dull moment since I began this new journey as a full-time author 3 years ago!  I'm having so much fun creating new worlds and sharing them with all of you fabulous readers and I look forward to doing that for many years to come!

So, I guess that means I should actually hop off of here and get on with creating more of one of those worlds now!  Have a wonderful week and I'll be back again soon with more posts!
